Job Description

NEBCO and related companies are hiring for a Senior Director of Tax & Accounting who will recommend tax strategies by researching, interpreting and implementing tax laws. This individual will be responsible for accounting oversight and advise family ownership on trusts and tax matters.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
● Develop overall income tax strategies for the long-term corporate mission of the organizations.
● Communicate tax strategies with appropriate members and levels of management.
● Oversee year-end financial audit with external auditors by review of consolidating income tax provision schedules.
● Prepare corporate, individual, trust and gift tax returns or reviews external income tax preparers for the timely and accurate filing of all income tax returns.
● Responsible for all tax audits.
● Recommend improvements to financial management for improvement of tax compliance.
● Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks and participating in professional organizations.
● Interpret sales tax laws and applicability to each organization.
● Review sales tax returns for compliance with appropriate sales tax law.
● Oversee accounting functions and financial reporting of companies.

● Proven knowledge of income, sales and property tax laws.
● Reliable, well-organized and self-directed individual who is able to work with minimal amount of supervision.
● High attention to detail and excellent analytical skills.
● Ability to see the connectivity of various processes and businesses.
● Willingness and ability to adapt to new circumstances, information and challenges while managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines.
● Computer skills including Microsoft Office, accounting and tax software and databases. Knowledge of Lawson a plus.
● Extensive team management skills.
● Strong skills in leadership, strategic thinking, communication, research analysis and project management.
● Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
● Committed to self-development.
● Ability to travel to company locations in eastern Nebraska on a limited basis.

Professional and Educational Requirements:
● Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in accounting, with tax emphasis.
● CPA designation required.
● Prefer minimum of 10-15 years tax experience in a public accounting firm or as a Corporate Tax Professional.
● Position is based in Lincoln, Nebraska.
