Director of Systemwide Accounting



The Nebraska State College System (NSCS) System Office invites applications for the position of Director of Systemwide Accounting. The position reports directly to the Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration and is an integral part of the System Office staff.

The Director of Systemwide Accounting will work closely with the lead accountants at the Colleges (Chadron State, Peru State, and Wayne State) related to annual financial statement preparation and the use of the accounting systems. The Director will lead periodic meetings with College accounting staff and provide support and direction to the Colleges. This position, in coordination with the College lead accountants, will be responsible for making recommendations to the NSCS Council of Business Officers related to internal controls and will conduct reviews to assure compliance with internal control policies. The Director of Systemwide Accounting will also prepare consolidated systemwide financial statements and prepare and/or review periodic financial reports provided to the Board of Trustees.

The Director of Systemwide Accounting should possess a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field and have a minimum of 5 years' experience in public sector accounting or auditing. Accounting or auditing experience in Nebraska public higher education and a CPA preferred. This position will require travel to the three State Colleges, and will include overnight stays.
