Job Corps is a free education and vocational training program that helps young people between the ages of 16 and 24 develop the skills needed to succeed in today’s workforce.


We are seeking an experienced Outreach and Admissions Counselor to work with our Nebraska Outreach and Admissions Team. The successful candidate will be primarily working out of the Lincoln office.

The successful candidate must have superb organizational and time management skills; they must have the ability to work independently; have a great attitude; and the eagerness to learn Job Corps policies and procedures in a timely manner.

The successful candidate must be flexible; creative; and productive working independently; and as part of the overall Nebraska Outreach and Admissions team.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Must have excellent communication and organizational skills. Public speaking experience essential. Ability to work independently necessary.

Ability to relate to people of all age groups, academic abilities and cultures required.

Must have ability to manage multiple priorities and complete assigned projects on time. Ability to learn new technologies required.

Provide support services to the Job Corps Centers in Nebraska and Iowa by recruiting qualified applicants for entry into the Job Corps program and conducting a wide-range of community outreach activities.

The Outreach and Admissions Counselor may require travel throughout the Lancaster, Saunders, York, Seward, Gage, Cass, Otoe, Johnson, Nemaha, Richardson, Pawnee, Butler, Saline, Thayer, Fillmore, and Polk Counties to connect with potential applicants and future employers on a weekly/bi-weekly/monthly basis.

Qualified applicants will be required to use their own vehicle for travel; no company vehicle will be provided, but mileage will be compensated.

Proven ability to develop meaningful connections within diverse communities; including a wide range of community organizations, community leaders, and community members

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public

Self-starter who effectively multi-tasks while still maintaining the highest level of efficiency, communication, and attention to detail

Commitment to supporting at-risk and low-income young adults
Excellent computer skills in a Windows based environment; competency using MS Office applications; and other internet/cloud based computer programs and environments

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor’s degree plus one year of marketing, sales, recruitment, or related field required. Must have excellent communication and organizational skills. Public speaking experience essential. Ability to work independently necessary. Ability to relate to people of all age groups, academic abilities and cultures required. Experience with word processing, database, spreadsheet and presentation software necessary. Must have ability to manage multiple priorities and complete assigned projects on time. Ability to learn new technologies required.

Working Conditions:

The position is generally performed in an office or community environment and may involve frequent interruptions. Occasional evening and/or weekend hours may be necessary.
This position may require extensive automobile travel throughout the assigned territory, as required by the position; therefore, a valid driver’s license, clean DMV record, and automobile insurance in accordance with agency liability standards is required.
